I lined up four free AI knowledge tests and checked what each one asks of you before the first question. Coursiv, NumberKnow and PiyushAI all start without sign-up, and so does UD's AI IQ Test. The differences are in what happens next: how long you are in, what you learn, and what you walk away with.
If you are deciding whether to spend three minutes on UD's AI IQ Test, this page answers the start-up questions first: cost, sign-up, time, what is included and what happens when it ends. Then it compares the alternatives and is honest about where ours falls short.
Is the UD AI IQ Test free, and do you need to sign up?
Yes, it is free and there is no sign-up. You open the page, pick one of eight industries and the first question appears. There is no email, account, card or download. Contact details are only requested if you choose to message UD on WhatsApp or call afterwards.
Quick facts (checked on the live page, 21 October 2026)
--- Price: HK$0.
--- Sign-up: none. No email or card.
--- Format: 15 True or False statements.
--- Timer: a 10-second countdown on each question, so the whole test caps at about 2.5 minutes.
--- Industries: catering, retail, real estate, education, medical, logistics, insurance and HR.
--- Result: one of four tiers by percentage correct.
--- Language: Cantonese interface.
--- Follow-up: optional, via WhatsApp (852) 9696 7545 or phone (852) 2554 7545.
How long does the AI IQ Test take and what happens during it?
Expect two to three minutes. After choosing an industry, you see one statement at a time, such as a claim about AI CV screening accuracy for HR, and tap TRUE or FALSE before a 10-second timer runs out. A running score sits above each question, so you know how you are doing as you go.
The industry choice is the useful part for practitioners. A marketer at a clinic and an operations lead at a logistics firm see statements framed around their own sector, not generic trivia about model names.
The timer changes what is being measured. Ten seconds is enough to read a statement and react, but not enough to search or overthink. That makes it a test of instinct about what AI can and cannot do, not a test of research skill.
When I stepped through the HR version, the first statement asked whether AI CV screening can identify qualified candidates with 85% accuracy. That is exactly the kind of claim practitioners hear in vendor pitches, which is the point of asking it.
How does it compare with other free AI literacy tests?
All four tests below are free and need no sign-up. UD's is the shortest and the only one framed around Hong Kong industries in Cantonese. Coursiv explains every answer, NumberKnow gives a certificate, and PiyushAI maps scores to the OECD AILit framework. Pick by what you want to walk away with.
Coursiv AI knowledge test (coursiv.io): 10 multiple-choice questions, about 3 minutes, no sign-up. Covers tokens, context windows, hallucination, RAG, temperature and data privacy. Shows the right answer and the reasoning after each question. Ends with a level and a link to Coursiv's paid AI Certificate Program.
NumberKnow AI Literacy Test (numberknow.com): 20 questions worth 5 points each, a score out of 100, five levels from AI Curious to AI Expert, instant explanations and a free certificate with your name. The page says nothing you answer leaves your browser.
PiyushAI AI Literacy Test (piyushai.com): 20 questions scored against the four OECD AILit domains (Engage, Create, Manage, Shape), about 8 minutes, no sign-up, scored in the browser. Tells you which domain to work on next. Built by an Indian edtech company with an education focus.
UD AI IQ Test: 15 True or False, 10 seconds each, eight HK industries, four tiers, Cantonese.
Verdict by reader
--- You want to learn while testing: Coursiv, because every answer comes with an explanation.
--- You want something to show HR or a client: NumberKnow, the only one here with a certificate.
--- You run training and need a framework: PiyushAI, mapped to OECD AILit.
--- You want a two-minute, sector-specific gut check in Cantonese, or to compare a team quickly: UD's AI IQ Test.
What happens when the AI IQ Test ends?
You get a tier based on your percentage correct: Digital Dinosaur (0 to 25%), Wait-and-See (26 to 50%), Catching Up (51 to 75%) or AI Pioneer (76 to 100%). Nothing is charged and nothing expires. If you want help acting on the result, the page offers a free consultation by WhatsApp or phone.
That is the whole funnel. There is no trial period to cancel and no follow-up email sequence, because you never gave an email.
For a team, the practical move is to have everyone take the same industry version on the same day and compare tiers. The spread matters more than the average. A team with two Pioneers and three Dinosaurs needs peer coaching, not a generic course.
What are the honest limitations of UD's AI IQ Test?
It is a quick awareness check, not an assessment. True or False with a timer rewards instinct and allows lucky guesses. Some statements hinge on specific percentages the page does not source. There is no certificate, percentile or English version. Use it to start a conversation, not to make a hiring or training decision.
--- Guessing: with two options, a random guess is right half the time. Fifteen questions is too few to separate a 60% from a 70% person reliably.
--- Unsourced numbers: statements like the 85% CV-screening claim, and the "AI facts" panel on the landing page (for example, that AI can cut operating costs by 30 to 40%), are not linked to sources. Treat them as prompts for discussion, not facts to quote.
--- No explanations confirmed: I did not complete a full run to see whether answers are explained at the end. Coursiv and NumberKnow clearly do explain.
--- No proof to share: no certificate, no percentile against other users, no downloadable report.
--- Language and scope: Cantonese only, eight industries. Accounting, legal and creative roles are not listed.
--- Who built it: UD built this test and offers paid AI services, so read our verdict with that in mind.
Which free AI test should you start with today?
Start with UD's AI IQ Test if you have three minutes and want a sector-specific gut check in Cantonese. Follow it with Coursiv or NumberKnow if you want explanations or a certificate. Then turn the gaps into one concrete habit using the prompt below, because a score only matters if it changes how you work next week.
Whichever test you take, paste the result into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and make it useful:
Try this prompt:
I just took a free AI knowledge test. My result: [tier or score]. Questions I got wrong or was unsure about: [paste the statements].
My role: [job], in [industry], in Hong Kong. AI tools I use weekly: [list].
1. For each wrong answer, explain the correct answer in two sentences and tell me whether the claim in the statement is supported by a named, public source. If you cannot name one, say so.
2. Pick the single misconception most likely to cost me time or money at work, and give me one 15-minute exercise this week to fix it.
3. Tell me which of my answers might have been lucky guesses, given the test format.
Point 1 matters most for a test like ours, because it makes the model check the very numbers we flagged as unsourced. If you want to see how other AI tests compare in more depth, our free AI literacy tests comparison covers JobCannon and AISA as well. We understand AI. We understand you better.
